GWO Enhanced First Aid

This course is for wind power technicians that need a more in-depth knowledge of how to administer First Aid. You gain a deeper understanding of injury assessment and management as well as following guidelines and instructions for medical measures and preventative management by phone while waiting for the assistance of medical personnel. After passing the course, you receive a certificate for both GWO FAR (First Aid Refresher) and GWO EFA (Enhanced First Aid).

Goal

The goal is for the participant to gain more in-depth knowledge and understanding of how to administer First aid and follow medical recommendations over the phone.

  • Deliver enhanced life saving first aid using the C-ABCDE principal
  • Action/emergency plan in an Emergency
  • Telephone Consulting
  • Knowledge about medical equipment within prehospital care:
  • - Spineboard
  • - Stretcher
  • - Cervical collar
  • - Oropharyngeal tube
  • - Laryngeal tube
  • - Pulsoximeter
  • - Heart rate monitor
  • - Analgesic and medication
  • - Drug administration

Practical elements

  • Assessment and care with the C-ABCDE principal:
  • - Casualty position / free airways needed to facilitate breathing with advanced equipment
  • - Assisted breathing with equipment
  • - Stop severe bleeding with advanced equipment
  • - Defibrillators
  • - Immobilisation
Target group: Personnel (technicians), working within the wind power industry with the aim of increasing their skills in emergency care. The course is also suitable for people that want to upgrade their level of knowledge in emergency care.
